For several months now, I've really been looking forward to sharing this story with you all---but I had to wait until after my cousin, Cara's, baby shower.
A couple months ago, I wrote about my special cup that I found out at my Grandma Betty's old place---more than 25 years after she last washed it and set it on the shelf for the next time I came to visit. You can read that again here.
That same week, I was given a bunch of her old sewing things. In one of the boxes, I found a big stack of Sunbonnet Sue quilt blocks. About 20 or so were finished---and there's another 30 or more that are cut out and ready to be put together.
At the time of her death, I was one of two granddaughters. The third, my cousin Cara, was born just days after Grandma Betty passed away.
A couple weeks ago, our family celebrated the arrival of Nick and Cara's first baby, Sophia Ralene. I thought a very fitting gift for her would be a little baby quilt made from one of these blocks found in Grandma's things.
Cara was super blessed by the gift and it was nice to think Grandma Betty was there with us that day in some small way!
I'm linking up with Beverly's Pink Saturday today. Make sure and visit a few other participants if you have the chance this weekend!
