God Gives Strength in Lonely Times
When we're serving God, there will be times of loneliness, as we move further away from "how we were raised" or what those around us are doing, and into God's specific calling on our own families.
"The joy of the Lord is your strength." ~Nehemiah 8:11
There comes a time when we have to rely on the Lord---and Him only---for our strength. The sooner we figure this out, the better; unfortunately, it often takes a crisis for us to begin leaning solely on the Lord.
Many of us were raised in great homes with doting fathers and attentive mothers. We had good relationships with our siblings growing up, and had loyal friends whom we remained close to into adulthood. We married spouses who adored us and might have started a career or ministry in which we felt needed and fulfilled.
Sadly, many times it's these blessings on our lives that serve to be the very things that distract us from realizing our need for God.
One of the greatest prayers we could pray for ourselves and our children is that God would make us aware of our need for Him. Sometimes this lesson is learned in difficult circumstances, but those are times when we truly understand the verse that says, "In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." ~1 Thessalonians 5:18
The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. ~Job 1:21

So true; though I want to hear "the rest of the story", ha! I feel like you have more to say. :) Praying all is well with you.

ReplyDeleteI concur, we need God more than we think! We need to pursue more time with HIM!
ReplyDeleteSomehow, that house is ME! I am thinking of that scripture at the end of Habakkuk that says, though there are no figs on the tree or cattle in the barn, yet I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! Blessed to read here today!
ReplyDeleteVery good post
ReplyDeleteThese thoughts are so true. Often once the crisis is over we forget our need for God in our lives and become comfortable again.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this over at WholeHearted Home this week.
