Classical Composers Monthly---An Excellent Resource for Homeschoolers

One of our favorite things to do as a homeschooling family is to study history.  When I was in school, I thought history class was all about wars and politics---I wasn't at all interested.  In our homeschool, we find any excuse to make history a part of every subject!

I love to come up with fun studies for my kids on historical characters and events.  Remember my Titanic Tea Party?  That was a blast!  I've been trying to come up with a great one for art and music history, but have hit several road blocks.  Thankfully, I've found an excellent source for these very kind of studies.  Thank you, so much, to Classical Composers Monthly, for sending me a sample compilation to review.  All opinions are honest and are my own.  This article contains affiliate links.

Classical Composers Monthly is an amazing resource that sends out monthly themed collections based on a classical music composer.  Some of the things that might be included in each monthly compilation are:

  • lesson plans and activities
  • videos about the composer's music, the instruments they used, and the world they lived in
  • a clickable playlist, educational ebooks, links to other online resources

I have been trying for months to write up a study on Beethoven for my kids. When I clicked the link for Beethoven in my review collection, I was thrilled at everything included!  I had links to biographies, a timeline project, printable pages and games, seven videos, 30 compositions, a 3-hour movie documentary, and more!

In addition to collections based on classical composers, they've also just released a collection of Fine Arts Pages for studying notable artists.  I am just so thrilled to have all of this information together in one spot.  I know our family will really utilize both the composer collections and the fine arts collection this coming year!

A Neat Old Desk for the Homemaking Party

Look what I got!!!!  I'm so so excited about this neat old desk my mom gave me today.  I'm thinking it needs some shabby white paint and a little birdie stencil.  Love it---thanks, Mom!

In other news, I just signed up as a Pampered Chef consultant.  I've sold the products off and on the past 13 years or so, and am thrilled to be working, once again, with this great company.  If you'd like to do an online party or even sign up to be a consultant too, please let me know and I'd be happy to get you started!

I love to feature some of the neat posts that are linked up---Please make sure and put my button or a text link on each blog post you link up.

Here are a couple of my favorites from last week's party:

I love this great tutorial and recipe for Homemade Laundry Soap from Jennifer at Mama Economics.  Mom gave me a great big bucket so I can get started on making my own.  Thanks (again!) Mom!

My friend Audra shared some of her family's favorite books.  There are several of my personal favorites on this Delightful Summer Reads for Girls list, and she's also got a great one for boys at AudraSilva.com.

Laura at Harvest Lane Cottage linked up her post on reasons why her family homeschools.  A lot of our reasons are the same as hers.  What a blessing it is to spend all day, every day, with my sweet kiddos.  (By the way...I would give a vital organ for this vintage edition of this Handbook of Nature Study.  It's one of our favorites!)

Thanks to everyone for the great posts!
