Christmas Nut Cookies: Make Bake Create #37

Welcome to the Make Bake Create Party! 5 Blogs-1 party-lots of fun and creative ideas for you!

Please follow your hosts:

We're just finishing up day 6 of being snowed in here in the Arkansas Ozarks! No mail, no garbage pick up---but thank Jesus we've got all our utilities on and groceries in the fridge!

I've been making Christmas goodies almost as fast as the kids can devour them! Here's one of our family favorites from my great-grandma, Annabelle.

Christmas Nut Cookies

1 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. chopped nuts
powdered sugar

Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla until fluffy. Add flour and salt and blend well. Mix in nuts. Shape into balls and bake 20 minutes at 325ยบ. When cookies are cool, roll in powdered sugar.

Follow the MBC Pinboard!

I loved seeing the awesome things you all linked up last week! Here are a couple of my favorites.  If you're featured, make sure to grab a "featured button" for your blog!

I absolutely love this Wooden Spool Wreath from The D.I.Y. Dreamer! I've been collecting these adorable vintage spools for spoolies and other crafts and will definitely be doing something wreath-like with them soon as well!

JES shared these excellent Ideas for Using Orange Peel on her blog, Strangers & Pilgrims on Earth. I'm inspired!

  3. Oh Sarah - my mom used to make cookied just like those! They are so good and just melt in your mouth! My mom is from the Ozarks on the Missouri side, and her name is Anna Lee! Maybe we should rename the cookies the Anna Ozark cookies???!!!
Thanks for hosting this fun party! I hope the rest of your week is blessed!

  4. Your nut cookies remind me of some my Mom used to make at Christmastime. We called them "Walnut Crescents" because we would squeeze them in our hands to make a crescent shape. Now I'll have to make these cookies! =)
