Once upon a time, a 29 year old housewife, mother of six, and harried homeschooler, sat down to write a blog. She didn't really want to but she loved to write and her friends told her it would be a good idea. Turns out, it was. (That was the same year they told her to get Facebook. THAT was a BAD idea.)
For several years, said housewife blogged silly stories about faith, family, and food; participated in weekly linky parties like Pink Saturday and Vintage Thingie Thursday; and just generally enjoyed hanging out with her online friends --- the majority of whom were retired and elderly ladies from whom she learned some amazing decorating skills...
When this housewife was about 33 years old, she discovered the world of SOCIAL MEDIA INFLUENCING. "Oh!" said she. "There are actually people out there who will pay me to do this thing I love?" Before long, she found herself at the mercy of clients and brands and media-ish managers, and there was no time for tea parties and pink doo-dads. Only hashtags and staged photos and a whole lot of free stuff sent to her door.
Our hapless heroine was raking in the dough, but her spark had fizzled and her joy was drizzly and after about six years, she decided to give up the glamorous life of a social media influencer. Her happy, chillfully sweet blog had died long ago, replaced with the boring sameness of Hashtag Hades, but now it was time to bury that, too.
Oh, she's tried to come back. Over and over, she's tried. But life got busy, kids got big, and many of her old blogging friends had retired theirs, as well. It wasn't fun anymore without the same old friends.
But now, as she reaches the end of her parenting years and gets ready to step into blissful days of bare-minimumness, 47 year old She wonders --- is there anyone out there who remembers her? Can the bones of this once inspirational space yet live again? Are there other bloggy friends to be made?
So readers, I implore you. If you find yourself within reading distance of this plea, please reach out and say hello. Let me know you are there! Should I find the intestinal fortitude to once again revive this eclectic collection (eclection) of thoughts, pictures, and sillinesses, would there be anyone there to read it?
