Vintage Thingie Thursday: Grandma's Dishes

I'm very excited to be participating in my first Vintage Thingie Thursday! Hosted by Coloradolady, this is an opportunity to show off neat vintage items that you have around your home. Being a thrift store junkie and a proud pack rat, I've got all kinds of great stuff to feature!

Today I'm showing off my Grammy Annabelle's dishes. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what year or on what occasion she acquired these...I just remember my Mom telling me that they'd someday be mine. Lo and behold...and ta da!!! They're now resting safely in a hutch in my living room. (Well, actually, they're the subject of my husband's latest photo shoot right now...then they go back in the hutch).

I've yet to find out much about them but I know that they were made by Blue Ridge Pottery, Southern Potteries, Inc. sometime between the late 1930's and mid-1957. The design is called "Pinkie" and I'm having a really difficult time finding many more in the set! Currently I have about 5 dinner plates and 5 bread plates.

  1. Welcome to Vintage Thingies Thursday. My, you have a delightful blog my friend! I love your grandmothers dishes, the pattern is very unusual, and on all my outings and dish buying, I don't think I have ever seen this pattern. But, now, I will watch for it for you!! So glad you linked in today, looking forward to more of your goodies! Have a great VTT!

  14. When you said you were having a hard time finding more pieces, I had to go check Ebay! I found some cups and saucers, lots of plates, and some bowls too! It's a really lovely pattern, and I like the name "pinkie"! It's such a great family heirloom, and I hope you find more pieces to add to it!
    Happy VTT!

  16. These are so pretty and doubly precious because they belonged to someone you love. I would suggest trolling the flea markets, garage sales etc cheaper than replacements.com but you could try ebay. They have an option for saving searches and will send you an email every day or so when someone posts an item you are interested in.
