England Memories for the Homemaking Party

Welcome to the Homemaking Party! I've been thinking, recently, that I've never shown you all my photos from my September England trip. I had really good intentions of doing a series of all the different places we went and things we saw, but by the time I got settled back at home, Jamie got news about the Arkansas job and everything has been a whirlwind since!

Anita at Castles, Crowns, and Cottages is hosting the Europe: Simply Irresistible blog hop this week, so I thought it would be the perfect time to start sharing my photos. The ones I'm sharing tonight are from my first hours in London and Bath. It was my first time ever visiting England, so everything was new and exciting!

Here's one of the first photos I took in England---Paddington Station. I ended up spending a couple hours there, waiting for my train, and it was so fun to just be able to sit and watch people. I bought a steak and cheese pasty and a Diet Coke and sat down next to a woman who told me she was waiting for her husband, Clive. Perfect.

This is one of my first photos of Bath. It was pouring down rain and almost dark when I arrived. I had no idea if I was headed in the right direction, but I arrived, soaking and smiling, just before it got too dark to see!

My first photo of Bath Abbey. I returned a couple days later to attend service there.

Our tour group took part in the Grand Regency Costumed Promenade. These were my roommates, Jenny and Judah---very dear friends to me now!

Here we are at the Royal Crescent in Bath, preparing for the parade to begin!

The parade ended at the Parade Gardens near the Abbey. Here are two sweet friends dressed in beautiful blue!

After the promenade, we took tea at the Jane Austen house. It's the house her family lived in when she lived in Bath and there's a beautiful tea room upstairs that served all these lovely treats. My apologies for catching my friend, Frances, off-guard!

After tea, a few of us walked around Bath, shopping and exploring. Many tourists wanted to take our photo---so we had them take one with our own camera too!

The woman who played this living statue was amazing! I definitely did not realize she was real until she moved.

I was intrigued by the pigeons! Pigeons everywhere!

A pigeon man talked our friend, Rachel, into letting them roost on her. She's such a good sport!

There was much fun to be had on our first day in England. I can't wait to show you all more soon!

Make sure to visit Castles, Crowns, and Cottages on Friday---and throughout the week---for lots more great Europe-themed posts. Maybe you'll want to join the party too!

Thanks for linking up with the Homemaking Party. Have a blessed week!

  16. SARAH! YES YES YES! This is exactly what I envision people doing, sharing photos but not just ordinary ones, but YOU ARE DRESSED UP! Oh my , this is sensational. One note: This party lasts ALL WEEK, not just the weekend. What will make this even more fun is if you leave it up all week, visit the others and let them have a chance to visit you during the ENTIRE WEEK of the party. You gave me an idea for a future post, and to see everyone in costume is making this especially wonderful.

HAVE FUN and please keep it up all week - the others must see this! Anita

  18. Hi Sarah,

Lovely to discover your blog and many thanks for visiting mine.
Looks like you had a fun time in Bath and love how you all look so beautiful in your period dresses. Yes, an umbrella is a good thing to have there. Thanks for sharing your photos.
Isn't England a wonderful place to visit - we had a few weeks there attending a friends wedding and enjoyed how exciting it was - we travelled through Bath in the train to Dartmouth where the wedding took place.
    Enjoy the weekend

  21. Sarah! Good morning and a cheery greeting to you - I have been enjoying the creativity with this party, and again, what you did here is extremely pleasant. I am happy to see so many different ways people are sharing their love for Europe, and "dress-up" and Jane Austen is GREAT FUN! Now I want to dress up like one of my favorite characters out of a French novel!!!!

Enjoy yourself and have a super weekend! Anita
