BBQ Ribs for the Homemaking Party

A few nights ago, I made these wonderfully tender BBQ ribs. Everyone LOVED them--so, I'm sharing the recipe with you!

BBQ Ribs

fresh beef or pork ribs (appropriate amount for your family)
1/4 c. liquid smoke
1-2 TB. cumin
1-2 TB. seasoning salt
salt & pepper
1 bottle bbq sauce (I like Sweet Baby Rays); size will depend on how many ribs you're cookin'!

Boil ribs in a large pot of water on a roiling boil for 3 hours. Make sure to check them now and then to add more water. After 2 hours, add liquid smoke and seasonings. After 3 hours, place ribs in a greased baking pan and pour bbq sauce over top. Bake at 350ยบ for about 30 minutes. Yum!

Thanks for stopping by the Homemaking Party! I'd love for you to share the party with your Facebook or Google+ friends!

  5. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I have never made spare ribs because we had them at a friends house and they were dripping with fat and made me feel sick. I now know why, after reading your recipe. He baked them in the oven without boiling them first. Time for me to try them this way. Obviously most of the fat would be thrown away with the boiling water.

    1. Oh! I'd sure love to know how they turn out. Yes, I noticed WAY less grease or fat on these than ones I've made in the past. It's also much easier to cut off any remaining fatty pieces when they've been boiled.

  6. Good evening, Sarah! I make ribs very similar to yours, but I make a whole bunch at one time! I boil them all, and then from that point we eat some that night, then when the other racks are cooled off I use my FoodSaver (aka the sucky machine) and suck them up into individual packages and freeze them without sauce. I usually make enough to eat one meal and then freeze three more! Then when you want to eat some, just take them out of the freezer the night before and put in the fridge to thaw. When thawed - 1/2 in the oven with the bbq sauce - and they are good as freshly cooked but with a lot less time! We also like Sweet Baby Rays! Thanks for hosting!

    1. Thanks for the tip, Vickie! I'm sure I will definitely need to invest in a FoodSaver once my kids start leaving the house. I'll be in the habit of cooking for 11(+) for a long time, I think!
